Summary

Legal Clerk

Law Clerk will be part of a midsize, dedicated legal team servicing a broad range of matters relating to various legal matters and will provide day-to-day maintenance and support with an electronic contract repository across multiple groups or business units. Various projects working with inhouse attorneys may also be assigned as required by business needs. The Law Clerk position is ideal for a law student seeking introductory experience with an inhouse legal team, although there are no guarantees for full-time employment. This position will report to an in-house attorney in the Legal Department.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with contract repository implementation, user training and access setup

• Manage the electronic repository, including uploading and organizing contract files

• Responsible for leading or assisting in the completion of legal projects as assigned

• Assist the legal team with day-to-day work that covers activities across the division

• Conduct research regarding general legal matters

• Review and prepare legal documents under the direction of in-house attorneys

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Applicants must be pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and be currently enrolled at an accredited law school.

• Applicants must be in their 2L or 3L year at the time of application

• Applicants need to have a minimum 3.0 GPA

Job Duty

• Assist with contract repository implementation, user training and access setup

Minimum Qualifications

The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

Education Level: (Required): High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience

• Must be pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and be currently enrolled at an accredited law school

• Excellent academic achievements

• Must be in 2L or 3L year at the time of application

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Basic understanding of contracts, legal research and discovery

• Meticulous attention to detail

• Strong prioritization skills

• Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills

• Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment

• Ability to interact in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and as part of a cross functional team

• Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers

• Prior electronic filing experience preferred, but not required

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
