We’re seeking a Manager Strategic Planning who is exhilarated by the challenge of understanding & activating the niche audiences of adventurous brands. This person will mentor, inspire, and lead a small but talented department in understanding audiences and competitors while keeping up with the speed of culture and bringing powerful insights and truths that spark great creativity. The Manager Strategic Planning brings a holistic and innovative understanding of the consumers our brands touch and leads the pursuit of breakthrough moments through which insight and opportunity are realized.
Ultimately, you’ll drive brand growth and momentum by leading a team to identify, inspire, and connect passionate communities of people who share a common belief or purpose with the brands that SixSpeed represents.
*Although our Minneapolis office is accessible, we are open to hiring fully-remote candidates for this position.
THE TASK AT HAND
Serve as lead strategist working alongside creative and account team members on our clients’ businesses, ultimately assuring the quality of the strategic and creative products the team produces
Be an expert in culture and an integral part of agency development by discovering industry best practices, trends, and new strategies
Develop research plans and conduct in-depth consumer immersion and digital ecosystem analysis to uncover unique insights
Gain understanding of our client’s target audiences, develop personas, understand decision journeys, and find piercing insights to help fuel meaningful creative work and communication plans.
Act as a catalyst to our teams in seeking out new ways to add value to the brand and in identifying future opportunities
Take on overall responsibility for understanding consumer issues, leveraging insights, writing briefs and conducting briefings on multiple brands
Forge strong relationships with high-level marketing clients
Deliver bold, strategic vision and direction for client’s brands and puts them into action and practice for clients
Pioneer and utilize new research methods
Contribute to new business efforts with strategic approaches and relationship development
Be a student of the marketing landscape to proactively discover industry best practices and unique marketing strategies
Help identify areas of growth for the Strategy Team’s frameworks, processes and capabilities
Make decisions related to project approach, resourcing, and timing
Presentation of insights, marketing strategies, and completed work to internal teams and clients
Effectively communicate connection team value, approach and capabilities to both clients, partners, and coworkers
Create and iterate SixSpeed strategic frameworks, processes and capabilities and effectively teach them to others
WHO ARE YOU
You tout a degree, preferably in the realm of Marketing, Business, or Communications.
You have 8-10 years of relevant industry experience in marketing or advertising and strategy

· Responsible for the management of a team of research analysts, including Manager, Market Research, each assigned to categories/channel expertise on a given client(s) ensuring client needs in preparing presentations that contain data and analyses for both internal (client service, field and creative teams) and external (client) use are met.
· A support member of internal Client specific senior management team (assigned to a unique client), positioned as the senior planner on assigned client with specific responsibility of client development in the areas of research, insight, and strategy development.
· Author presentations, independently as well in mentorship that clearly “connects the dots” of research, data and information, yielding actionable conclusions that result in strategically sound marketing solutions/programs. Provide new business support.
· Strategic lead on a given piece of business interfacing with clients and client marketing research groups at the management level to promote and build deeper client partnerships in order to advance IN’s connectivity across client departments.
· Ongoing process improvements to best manage strategic planning, insight, and data requests from clients.
- Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources
- May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Education Level: (Required): Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Field of Study/Area of Experience: Business, Marketing, Communications, other related experience
- 5+ years of experience in brand marketing, promotion agency, shopper marketing, or promotional/shopper marketing research
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
· IRI, Nielsen, and other syndicated research data gathering and analysis experience; usage only.
· Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills
· Ability to make oral presentations
· Ability to visualize and plan objectives and goals strategically
· Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web browsers
· Proficient in the use of Market Research, Nielsen/IRI, Simmons, Mintel

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
