Summary

Big Data Engineer

ATLAS Technology Group is the leading retail analytics platform in the consumer package goods industry. We are currently seeking a Big Data Engineer for a full time/permanent position which allows for a remote work opportunity.

Our Big Data Engineer architects, designs, and develops database solutions that support the business units (Sales, Marketing, HR, etc.) in Advantage Sales and Marketing; systems and software include CRM, Business Intelligence, and other strategic custom software applications. The Big Data Engineer serves as the project lead for small to mid-sized projects and primary point of contact for client stakeholders. This role demonstrates an enterprise view and understanding of systems and technologies and is responsible for database architecture, design, installation, maintenance, monitoring, and upgrades of database systems. This includes documenting systems in accordance with company standards. The role serves as a point of escalation and review for issues or concerns identified by the support team or monitoring services on a 24x7 basis.

JOB DUTIES:

Database Technology Solutions Architecture:

· Provide development across all supported database platforms features/components such as High Availability, Disaster Recovery, monitoring, Data Collection, and others utilizing ANSI SQL, PowerShell, and .Net development tools, Python, and C++.

· Focus on further increasing the levels of automation and self-service.

· Collaborate with key vendors in providing innovative added value solutions to the database server infrastructure.

· Architect, develop and maintain services, on Vertica, SQL Server, PostGRES, and Influx database platforms

· Engage directly with the business stakeholder and is the bridge between the business and the technical team

· Own small to mid-sized system

Software Development

· Design, develop, test, and deploy code for database platforms

· Work with leadership to develop a technology roadmap for specific projects and systems

· Plan and execute efforts to address technical debt for legacy systems and processes

· Share acquired skills/knowledge with team members and mentor junior engineers

· Work with many technologies and serves as the subject matter expert on select technologies or platforms

Project Leadership

· Lead efforts to gather and convert Business Requirements into Functional Designs

· Architect and develop solutions for complex business problems

· Provide guidance to a team of database engineers and administrators

· Develop and enforce database schema best practices

· Lead code reviews and technical exchange sessions

· Manage the development and maintenance of technical documents

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of significant and recent development experience and expertise .NET, .NET Core, ANSI SQL, Python, C++ 5+ years of experience in Database Administration and Architecture

  • 3+ years of experience as a Senior Professional Database Engineer

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment

  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment

  • Analytical and research Skills

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of and adherence to SDLC standards

  • Demonstrated ability to interface with collaborative workgroups to resolve service issues

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

Education Level:(Required) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Field of Study/Area of Experience:Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent experience.

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment.
