WDDS is co-accountable with business leaders for agency KPIs, providing leadership in the digital visioning of the agency, and creating a plan to advance agency competencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop digital strategies to align with client goals while fostering relationships and uncovering new business opportunities.

  • Stay on trend using best practices to create innovative campaigns using emerging technologies.

  • Ability to drive business development through Incremental work, Incremental is defined as net new digital enablement through the implementation of additional systems, applications, infrastructure, etc. to existing and new agency clients.

  • Can independently manage expectations with stakeholders and drive prioritization efforts based on user request and available resources and budget.

  • Ownership of all department and project budgets from a Capital and Operating expense perspective.

  • Contribution of time toward innovative initiatives. Lead effort(s) around industry-specific research / skunk-works projects to explore business efficiencies, revenue generation or data collection and insight.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degreeor equivalent experiencerequired

  • 10+ years of experience developing strategies for digital activation across multiple channels within a fast-paced, agency environment

  • Excellent methodology and planning skills with “big picture” mindset

  • Experience with B2B and B2C audiences (foodservice preferred)

  • Proficient in Project Management tools (i.e., MS Project) or similar project tool (s)

  • Skill in supervising to include delegating responsibility, training and evaluating the performance

Position Summary

The Waypoint Director, Digital Strategy is responsible for leading agency clients in the activation of technology in the marketing mix. The WDDS works as a SME, provides direct coaching to select contributors in the digital planning team and peer coaching to other functional leaders. WDDS is co-accountable with business leaders for agency KPIs, providing leadership in the digital visioning of the agency, and creating a plan to advance agency competencies.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Client Leadership

• Develop digital strategies to align with client goals and develop internal capabilities while fostering relationships and uncovering new business opportunities

• Ability to understand how to translate/author business requirements and industry drivers into actionable project work and product roadmap

• Collaborate with creative, client service, sales enablement, and analytics teams to research consumer insights and measure campaign effectiveness to make recommendations

• Stay on trend using best practices to create innovative campaigns using emerging technologies

• Provide mentoring and guidance to existing staff and career development

• Ability to work autonomously with little oversight or supervision – in a highly accountable way

• Provide oversight to projects and related tasks that meet cost, schedule and resource constraints

• Comfort level with direct interaction with top-to-top clients and able to present to executive leaders, as routine course of business

Strategic Direction

• Ability to drive business development through the development of innovative capabilities

• Ability to drive agency toward Innovative work, Innovative is defined as R&D type projects focused on leveraging progressive technologies for business benefit (with a bias for saleable projects vs R&D projects)

• Ability to work with business stakeholders to develop ROI for initiatives and prove value of investment

• Owns an active role in helping meet objectives around department annual efficiency and cost savings initiative

• Ownership of a 3 year strategic plan

Stakeholder Relationships / Leadership Accountability

• Can independently manage expectations with stakeholders and drive prioritization efforts based on user request and available resources and budget

• Own a defined communication plan for stakeholders that include specific deliverables on a set frequency (e.g.: daily calls, weekly or monthly status reports, quarterly roadmaps, etc.)

• Develop relationships with stakeholders so that the WDDS position becomes the trusted single point of contact for stakeholders for all initiative communications

• Demonstrate ability to handle challenges tied to team dynamics or team conflicts independently

General Administration

• Ownership of all department and project budgets from a Capital and Operating expense perspective

• Participate in agency ELT meetings and accept responsibility for implementation of general management priorities

• Coordinate and align the assignment of resources with cross-functional stakeholders

• Take accountability for individual and team annual goal setting exercises

• Take accountability for completion of annual performance reviews for all team members

Innovation - Contribution

• Contribution of time toward innovative initiatives. Lead effort(s) around industry specific research / skunk-works projects to explore business efficiencies, revenue generation or data collection and insight.

• Looks for areas in the business to enhance agency capabilities

• Keep up-to-date of new hardware, software and digital marketing trends

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct Reports

  • Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

Indirect Reports

  • May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Travel and/or Driving Requirements

  • Travel and Driving are not essential duties and function of this job

Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

Education Level: (Required) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

• 10+ Years of experience in developing strategies for digital activation across multiple channels within a fast-paced, agency environment

• Excellent methodology and planning skills with “big picture” mindset

• Experience with B2B and B2C audiences (foodservice preferred)

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Environmental & Physical Requirements

Office / Sedentary Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
